Custom Web Applications

Software built around how your business actually runs.

Off-the-shelf software makes you change your process to suit its assumptions. A custom application does the opposite. We build web applications for businesses whose operations have outgrown spreadsheets, group chats and paper, and where an off-the-shelf product would only solve half the problem.
Starting point

Discovery $750–$2,000 · Builds from $4,500 (AUD, excl. GST)

Applications are quoted after paid discovery. Discovery produces a technical specification you own — you are free to build it with anyone. We will not give a fixed application price before we understand the data model, integrations and permission rules.

The problem this solves

The business runs on spreadsheets nobody else understands.

Operational knowledge ends up living in a spreadsheet on one person's laptop, a group chat, and a filing cabinet. Nothing reconciles, nobody can see the whole picture, and the business cannot grow without adding administration.

  • Critical information sits in spreadsheets that only one person understands
  • Staff re-key the same data into two or three different systems
  • Approvals happen by text message and get lost
  • Multiple sites report differently, so the numbers never match
  • You have been quoted for software that does 40% of what you need

Who this is for

This service earns its price when at least one of these is true.

  • Multi-site operators who need consistent reporting
  • Businesses running operations on spreadsheets and messaging apps
  • Hospitality, retail and services groups with site-level processes
  • Organisations with a compliance or audit obligation to evidence
  • Teams that need staff and customer views of the same data

What you receive

Deliverables

  • Paid discovery: process mapping, data model and a technical specification
  • Fixed-scope proposal with milestones, before any build begins
  • Application build with authentication and role-based permissions
  • Responsive interface designed for the device staff actually use
  • Administration tools so you are not dependent on us for day-to-day changes
  • Data export so your information is never trapped
  • Documentation and staff walkthrough
  • Deployment, monitoring and a support plan

What it does

Typical functionality

  • Customer portals — self-service accounts, requests and history
  • Staff portals — task lists, shift-level views, site-scoped access
  • Dashboards and reporting across locations
  • Booking systems with availability rules and confirmations
  • Ordering systems with approvals and delivery tracking
  • Inventory and stock applications with counts and reorder logic
  • Compliance applications — incident logging, checklists, evidence trails
  • Multi-location systems with per-site data separation
  • Authentication, roles and permissions
  • Audit records for anything that changes money, stock or safety

Pricing

Discovery $750–$2,000 · Builds from $4,500 (AUD, excl. GST)

Applications are quoted after paid discovery. Discovery produces a technical specification you own — you are free to build it with anyone. We will not give a fixed application price before we understand the data model, integrations and permission rules.

All prices are in AUD and exclude GST. Domains, hosting overages and third-party subscriptions are billed separately. Final pricing depends on scope, integrations, security requirements and project complexity.

Questions

The things people ask before they commit.

Why do you charge for discovery?

Because a real specification takes days of work: mapping the process, modelling the data, checking what each integration can actually do, and identifying the edge cases that decide the price. Discovery produces a document you own and can take to any developer.

Can you not just quote from a brief?

We can give an indicative range from a brief, and the pricing page shows those ranges. A fixed price without discovery would either be padded to cover unknowns or revised upward mid-project. Neither is fair.

What technology do you build on?

Next.js and TypeScript on Vercel, with PostgreSQL for data. We choose boring, well-supported technology so that another developer can pick the project up if you ever need them to.

Do we own the code?

Yes. On final payment the code, the repository and the infrastructure accounts are yours.

Can you work with our existing system?

Often, yes — it depends on whether that system exposes an API or a usable data export. We check this during discovery before anything is promised.

What happens after launch?

Applications need ongoing care: dependency updates, monitoring, and changes as your process evolves. Application support plans start at $299 per month.

Start with discovery, not a guess.

Book a free consultation. If an application is the right answer, we will scope discovery. If it is not, we will say so.
